Tom McQuail is an experienced UK and EU competition lawyer with a strong track record of representing clients on competition aspects of corporate and commercial transactions, investigations and compliance matters.
Tom McQuail is an experienced EU and UK competition/antitrust lawyer and has extensive experience advising on merger control (including Foreign Direct Investment/EU Foreign Subsidies Regulation rules), cartels and vertical investigations, abuse-of-dominance claims, and distribution issues. He also advises on competition damages claims.
In addition to competition law matters, Tom McQuail advises on a range of EU legal and regulatory issues.
Tom McQuail’s experience covers a broad range of industries including chemicals, consumer electronics, consumer goods, energy, food and drink, forest products, insurance, media, oilfield services, packaging, pharmaceuticals, software, steel, technology, and telecommunications.
Tom is a member of the ABA and is a regular speaker on EU and UK competition matters.
Tom is also a member of the Brussels bar (A list – Dutch section).

- Essity on EU merger clearance of its acquisitions of Georgia–Pacific's European tissue business and Proctor & Gamble's European tissue business
- SSAB in obtaining clearance of its acquisition of Rautaruukki under the EUMR in Phase I with commitments
- An EU-based company in a hub-and–spoke cartel investigation, leading to the competition authority dropping the case after its Statement of Objections
